JF-22 ultra-high-speed wind tunnel passed the acceptance: a strong support for the research and development of my country's space-to-earth round-trip transportation system and ultra-high-speed aircraft

Recently, the National Natural Science Foundation of China organized a final acceptance meeting for the national major scientific research instrument development project "Detonation-driven ultra-high-speed high-enthalpy shock tunnel" (hereinafter referred to as JF-22 ultra-high-speed wind tunnel) in the Huairou Park of the Institute of Mechanics .

The JF-22 ultra-high-speed wind tunnel project is supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and undertaken by the Institute of Mechanics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. It was officially launched in 2018, and the development period is 5 years. Jiang Zonglin, the project leader, proposed a shock reflection type forward detonation drive method, which turned the "unusable" detonation wave head into "usable" and "easy to use", and led the team to build an ultra-high-speed shock wave wind tunnel technology system , successfully developed the JF-22 ultra-high-speed wind tunnel. The wind tunnel is a super -large experimental instrument in the field of hypersonic and ultra-high speed, with a total length of 167m, a nozzle outlet of 2.5m, an experimental cabin diameter of 4m, and an experimental airflow velocity range of 3-10km/s. The ultra-high-speed flow law of the medium can strongly support the research and development of China's space-to-ground transportation system and ultra-high-speed aircraft, and is of great significance for promoting the development of aerodynamics and improving China's aerospace high-tech research and development capabilities. The JF-22 ultra-high-speed wind tunnel and the JF-12 reproduction wind tunnel together constitute the only ground experiment platform covering all flight corridors of adjacent space vehicles.

The acceptance expert group unanimously agreed to pass the acceptance, and evaluated that the wind tunnel is at the international leading level in terms of comprehensive performance indicators such as effective test time, total temperature, total pressure and nozzle flow field size.
