    The previously released National Natural Science Foundation of China 2023 project guide stated that applicants for the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars should be under the age of 45 and born after January 1, 1978 (inclusive); The funding for each project is 4 million yuan, and the funding for mathematics and management science is 2.8 million yuan each, regardless of direct costs and indirect costs; the funding period is 5 years.

    In 2022, the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars received 4,612 applications and 415 projects were funded, accounting for less than one-tenth of the funding, about 8.998%; the funding was 1.6288 billion yuan.
