Thirty-two experts from our country have been awarded the 2024 "IEC 1906 Award," setting a new record for the highest number of recipients.

According to reports from the National Standardization Administration today, the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) has recently announced the winners of the 2024 "IEC 1906 Award." A total of 228 outstanding international standardization experts from 25 countries received this honor. Among them, 32 experts from China in fields such as electrical transport equipment, smart cities, and electric power supply systems were awarded, placing China second only to Germany in terms of the number of awardees.

The "IEC 1906 Award" is one of the most prestigious awards given by the IEC. Established in 2004 to commemorate the founding of the IEC in 1906, the award is presented annually. Nominees are proposed by the chairs and secretaries of IEC technical committees and undergo a review by the IEC Secretariat before being awarded to experts from various countries who have made outstanding contributions to IEC international electrotechnical standardization. So far, a total of 233 Chinese experts have received this award.

Historically, the recipients of the "IEC 1906 Award" have primarily come from countries such as Germany, Japan, the United States, and the United Kingdom. However, as China's pool of registered experts continues to expand and the number of international standards led and published by them increases each year, there have been significant strides made in advancing international standardization efforts. As a result, the international community's recognition of Chinese experts has steadily grown, leading to a historic high in the number of award-winning experts from China in 2024.
