The "Exploration 1" scientific research ship returns to Sanya, and China and Indonesia complete their first joint scientific research

On the afternoon of March 28, the "Exploration 1" scientific research vessel carried the "Struggle" full-ocean deep manned submersible and returned to Sanya, successfully completing the first China-Indonesia Java Trench joint deep-diving scientific research mission. The abyss scientific expedition team set sail from Sanya on February 8 and lasted 50 days. The participating team members came from 11 countries including the National Research and Innovation Agency of Indonesia, Haru Oleo University in Indonesia, Hengdu University in Indonesia, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and Hainan Tropical Ocean Institute. home unit.

This voyage is organized by the "14th Five-Year Plan" National Key Research and Development Plan "Deep Sea and Polar Key Technologies and Equipment" key project, the Chinese Academy of Sciences International Partnership Program "Global Abyssal Deep Diving Exploration Plan" project, and the Hainan Provincial Deep Sea Technology Innovation Center "Deep Sea Abyss Scientific Expedition" Jointly supported by the "Shared Voyage for Equipment Sea Trials" project, and organized and implemented by the Institute of Deep Sea Science and Engineering of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, this is the first large-scale and systematic manned deep-diving scientific expedition in the Java Trench in the world.

The full-ocean deep manned submersible "Struggle" completed 22 dive missions in the Java Trench, 14 of which dived to a depth of more than 6,000 meters. Six dive missions were jointly conducted by scientific expedition team members from China and Indonesia. Finish. The joint chief scientists of China and Indonesia jointly completed the dive mission to the deepest point of the Java Trench at 7,180.4 meters (submersible depth gauge), setting a new deep-sea diving record for Indonesia. The voyage obtained a batch of valuable samples of macrobenthic organisms, rocks and sediments, as well as high-definition videos and photos. A total of more than 200 macrobenthic organisms were collected, including many new abyssal species.

This joint deep-diving scientific expedition to the Java Trench opens a new chapter for China and Indonesia to strengthen ocean cooperation. At the same time, as an important part of the "Global Abyssal Deep Diving Exploration Plan" initiated by the Deep Sea Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, it will further deepen the global understanding of The understanding of abyssal geological life processes and the evolution of the earth system is of great significance to promoting the high-quality development of my country's "Belt and Road Initiative" and building a community with a shared future for mankind.
