On May 20, the 2025 Shanghai International Film and TV Festival press conference was held in Beijing. At the press conference, the full list of judges for the Golden Goblet Award and Magnolia Award of this year's film festival and TV festival were announced, the posters of the two festivals were released, and the overall preparations were introduced.
The 27th Shanghai International Film Festival, guided by the State Film Administration and hosted by China Media Group and Shanghai Municipal People's Government, will be held from June 13 to 22; the 30th Shanghai TV Festival, hosted by the State Administration of Radio and Television, China Media Group and Shanghai Municipal People's Government, will be held from June 23 to 27.

This year's Shanghai International Film Festival coincides with the 130th anniversary of the birth of world cinema and the 120th anniversary of the birth of Chinese cinema. In line with the birth of the film, the opening forum of the 27th Shanghai International Film Festival will be themed "The Dream of the Times Starts a New Journey", reviewing the brilliant achievements of Chinese film in the past two centuries, and inspiring the majority of film workers to stand in the new era and forge ahead on a new journey. The International Film Festival has planned a special unit "Harmony and Coexistence: A Century of Resonance between Chinese and Foreign Films", which selects classic films, presents the screen dialogue of iconic works in the history of Chinese and foreign films, and shows the process of mutual learning, mutual promotion and mutual progress between Chinese and foreign films.
Relying on the "Belt and Road" Film Festival Alliance initiated by the Shanghai International Film Festival, the "Belt and Road" Film Week series of activities will continue to be held during this film festival, including roundtable forums, industry forums, life markets, Charming Pudong Movie Night and other activities; the screenings will continue to enter the Yangtze River Delta, Nanjing, Suzhou, Hangzhou, Ningbo, Hefei and Shanghai will screen selected films recommended by member institutions of the "Belt and Road" Film Festival Alliance.
At the press conference, the official poster of the 27th Shanghai International Film Festival was officially released, with the theme of "Every Frame of the City of Movies is Life". The poster design was inspired by Shanghai's characteristic architectural elements and life scenes, and innovatively adopted the form of a main poster plus three sub-posters, forming a "triplet", cleverly achieving the design concept and poster theme of "City of Movies, Every Frame is Life". It means that light and shadow are in the picture, life is in the same frame, and through a square screen, you can appreciate the various aspects of life.

The film festival will announce the schedule on June 3, and ticket sales will start at 12 noon on June 5 on the two major platforms of Damai and Tao Piao Piao. The opening film is "The Mystery of Jiangyuan Lane" directed by Chen Kexin, which will be specially screened in more than 100 theaters in Shanghai after the Golden Goblet Gala on the evening of June 14, creating a warm atmosphere of "light and shadow all over the city, everyone can participate".

As China's only international A-class film festival, the Shanghai International Film Festival and the Golden Goblet Awards have always attracted attention at home and abroad. The 27th Shanghai International Film Festival Golden Goblet Awards received more than 3,900 film applications from 119 countries and regions in five units, setting a record high. Among them, more than 2,800 entries were registered, and the number of films registered in the Americas and Africa increased significantly. The number of applications for the short film unit increased by 18% compared with last year. In addition, more than 1,820 of the entries were world premieres and more than 520 were international premieres. The combined premiere rate of world premieres and international premieres exceeded 80%, which is also the highest in history. It is reported that the major awards of this year's Golden Goblet Awards will be announced at the Golden Goblet Awards Ceremony held at the Shanghai Grand Theater on the evening of June 21.
This year also marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the European Union, the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Italy, and the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Thailand. During the TV Festival, the "Magnolia International Promotion Plan" will also be launched to make full use of the existing international influence of the Shanghai TV Festival and expand the "international circle of friends".
The SCO, which was born in China and named after Shanghai, is celebrating the "Year of China" this year. The Magnolia Award International Excellent TV Program Show will screen six films and TV works from SCO member states, including overseas dramas, cartoons and documentaries. This show will also be one of the series of activities of the National Radio and Television Administration's "Audio-visual Integration and Harmony" SCO National TV Festival program show.

As the earliest international TV festival established in China, the selection of the Magnolia Award at the Shanghai TV Festival has also attracted much attention at home and abroad. The Magnolia Award of this year's Shanghai TV Festival covers four categories and five units, including TV series (Chinese dramas, overseas dramas), documentaries, cartoons, and variety shows. Nearly a thousand works from 43 countries and regions on five continents have been collected, among which the number of documentaries has increased by about 10%, which is the most significant. In the two sections of cartoons and documentaries where Chinese and foreign works compete on the same stage, the proportion of overseas works has increased year by year. BBC, Sony, HBO Warner, Disney and other well-known overseas TV organizations have selected high-quality programs to participate in the selection. From the perspective of countries, there are also new expansions, including Chile, Denmark, Iceland and other countries, which have submitted registered works for the first time. The major awards will be announced at the "Magnolia Blossom" awards ceremony on the evening of June 27.
The jury of this year's Magnolia Awards consists of 15 members from seven countries and regions, including China, Hong Kong, Germany, the United Kingdom, France, the United States, and Japan. Among them, the jury of the Chinese TV series unit is composed of three generations of professionals, and almost all of them are industry leaders who have won Magnolia awards; the judges of the other three units include both professionals who have won the corresponding awards of the previous Magnolia Awards and well-known directors who have participated in the previous Magnolia programs; and the overseas TV series unit is also the first time that actors from Hong Kong, China serve as judges.
The Magnolia TV Festival Forum will focus on hot topics such as high-quality creation, international communication, the development of the international ultra-high-definition film and television industry, and the development path of short dramas. A total of 8 theme forums will be held, and the chairman of the jury of the TV series unit of this year's Magnolia Awards, the jury of the animation unit, and the jury of the documentary unit will be invited to hold 3 master classes. The film festival will hold 10 to 12 Golden Goblet Film Forums and 2 to 4 film schools, covering a variety of topics from technological innovation and international cooperation to literary adaptation to film and television, IP commercial transformation, etc., to gather wisdom and expand paths for the high-quality development of Chinese films.
